Bargain Foundations for Oily Skin
by Elizabeth Scull
As a girl on a budget, there are some things we don’t necessarily have the money to splurge on (i.e. a $40 foundation.) What makes things seem even more complicated is finding a foundation on a budget that works for oily/combination skin.
Well I am here to tell you that after years of trial and error, I have found the answers to all of your prayers. Yes, I have found drugstore foundations that go above and beyond for oily/combination skin. All of these foundations are under $13 and last for months. I would honestly go as far as to say that these foundations are even better than some of the higher end foundations you’ll find. I couldn’t be any more excited to share these amazing products with you all!
1. Maybelline Fit Me Matte and Poreless
With 32 shades to choose from and only $7.99 (Ulta), this foundation has one of the best color shade selections and prices on the market. I will admit, I was fairly hesitant to try this foundation out at first, but after trying it I can say without a doubt that this product is well worth the hype. I have worn this foundation nearly every day for the past two months, and the coverage and oil control cannot be matched. This foundation can be applied lightly for a more medium coverage and can easily build up to full coverage. I have had many situations when I have worn this foundation for over 10 hours and my makeup still looks flawless! This product controls oil better than any high end foundation I have ever worn with a smooth finish. Maybelline, you really outdid it with this one.
2. Revlon ColorStay Makeup for Combo/Oily Skin
If you’ve been into makeup for awhile, chances are you’ve heard about this foundation. This foundation is on the higher end of drugstore foundations at $12.99 (Ulta), but the quality and coverage of this foundation is well worth the few extra dollars. This foundation has a total of 18 shades for Combo/Oily skin, making the shade range about average for a drugstore foundation. As far as controlling oil, this foundation goes above and beyond. I never have to touch up with this foundation, and by the end of the day I have a beautiful natural glow. This is definitely a fuller coverage foundation, so for you gals who like a more natural look, I would go with the Maybelline Matte and Poreless.
3. Cover Girl Outlast Stay Fabulous 3-in-1 Foundation
Looking back, this is one of the first foundations I ever used when getting into makeup. At $10.99 (Ulta), this foundation has 13 shades (not impressed). If you have a deeper skin tone, this foundation only offers about two shades for you. CoverGirl get it together. The shade range is pretty much the only con I have with this foundation, however. This foundation gives a beautiful natural finish and controls my oil all day. It is definitely more light to medium coverage, which is perfect for going to class and every day use. I appreciate the pump with this foundation, and they recently did a package redesign, though I’m not too sure how I feel about it. This is the perfect foundation for the girl with oily/combination skin and just getting into makeup. CoverGirl just needs to expand their shade range, and this foundation would get a 10/10 from me.
4. CoverGirl Clean Matte BB Cream
I could not wait to share this product with you all! At only $7.99 (Ulta), this product is seriously life changing. I was absolutely blown away the first time I ever tried this out. The coverage is absolutely phenomenal for a BB cream, and this is by FAR the best BB cream on the drugstore market. This product states that it is for oily skin, and it definitely is. My oil is controlled all day with a beautiful finish that I just can’t get over. Whether you are going to class or running errands, this is the perfect product for everyday use. This product gets a 15/10 from me.
Overall, all four of these products are worth checking out next time you are in need of another foundation. When all seemed lost in the makeup world, I finally found foundations that stay in place and keep my oil at bay. The quality of these foundations cannot be matched, and I hope you enjoy them as much as I have!
